OPC and BACnet Solutions
OPC (OLE for Process Control) is open connectivity via open standards. It is a standard for interoperability between multiple disparate plant automation systems so as to dynamically exchange data and promote interconnectivity and operability. Additionally, it also integrates with the ERP and other Management Systems. Interoperability is assured through the creation and maintenance of open standards specifications. There are currently seven standards specifications and new standards are created whenever required to fill industry-specific needs. BACnet is the same to the Building Automation Systems (almost a de-facto) as OPC is to the Process Control industry. BACnet is a Data Communication Protocol for Building Automation and Control Networks. It was developed under the auspices of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). It is accepted as a common standard specification to promote interoperability and interconnectivity between various Building Management and Control Systems from various OEM manufacturers of Devices and Systems.
